Located in the capital city, our current flagship clinic — Vision Institute of Madagascar or “VIM” — is staffed by a team of dedicated professionals, including eight doctors who care for over 2,000 patients each month.
We also provide outreach clinics elsewhere in the periphery of Madagascar. Our dedicated team of doctors and health personnel work tirelessly to ensure that even the most remote communities have access to essential eye care. Modeled after AIES Mexico, we aim to establish a network of clinics in Madagascar, staffed with our locally trained and highly skilled doctors.
In addition to offering essential eye care, the clinic also serves as a center for medical education. Through our comprehensive residency program, we train the next generation of ophthalmologists, ensuring that our mission remains sustainable and our impact continues to grow.
This growing and dynamic program is more than just a clinic; it’s a beacon of hope in a country where access to specialized care is limited. By positioning ourselves to empower individuals and strengthen communities, we’re helping to create brighter futures for many.

Adventist International Eye Services was founded with a clear vision: to deliver critical ophthalmology services and education to under-served communities worldwide. We started in the early 80s with programs in Mexico, and have since expanded across South and Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa, focusing on preventing blindness and restoring sight where it’s needed most.
While developing the residency training program in Mexico, we established a central clinic, housing for visiting doctors, and an eye surgical suite at Montemorelos University. This institution is a well-established Adventist education system that teaches bright and motivated students from first grade through university, including medical school.
Our mission extends beyond medical care to empower communities. Through our clinics and training programs, we establish sustainable, locally-led solutions that ensure long-term impact.
